Our mission is to break the vicious circle of poverty by strengthening children through education.
Emergency Relief Program is one of the programs which is initiated by Friends Lanka Child Foundation in
considering the unavoidable and unexpected situation in the country because of the Covid-19 pandemic
and recession.
FLCF initiated the Emergency Relief Programs by supporting people in need throughout the whole
pandemic of 2020. Through this program, we remain innocent lives hopefully while providing them
essential items for their needs. As the result of the impact on the Covid-19 virus, FLCF is focused on single
parent families in the country as these families were severely affected by the imposed lockdown situation
in the country and hardly survived with no means of income.
FLCF provides them with dry food relief, health and hygiene items, surgical masks, and school needy items
for children who have financial difficulties. The program has reached out to a few districts such as
Colombo, Kalutara, Galle, Hambantota, Nuwara-eliya, Kandy, Mannar, Kilinochchi, and Puttalam.
The emergency Relief Program consists of the following basic steps that have prioritized people who are
affected by the economic impacts of the post-pandemic period, natural disasters, and poverty.
• Select families based on their low-income level if it is requested from a non-programmed
community (based on requests of Divisional/District secretariats)
• A project visit to the affected area and identify the needs.
• Each distribution will be scaled on the contribution of donors.
