New Year Festival

Annually, all of pre-schools and children's homes celebrate the Sinhala and Tamil New Year Festival in April under the guidance of the FRIENDS LANKA Child Foundation. This year, we organized a New Year festival with various kinds of games and to gain new experience for all the children. Children & parents had prepared a table with various traditional sweets such as Kavum, Thalaguli, Aasmi, Kokis, Aluwa, Milk rice, Bananas,etc… The program started with the playing the Rabana drums and firing of crackers. Children have actively participated for all the games and they had to sing, dance, and announce. There were various traditional games they payed such as Kotta Pora, Kana Mutti Bindeema, Placing the eye of an elephant, Bun-eating completion, Kamba Adeema (Tug-o-War) and Lissana Gaha Nageema (climbing the greasy pole), Balloon blasting, jumping as rabbits, etc… Parents and spectators encouraged the children by cheering.
