Selecting procedure of the sponsorship program


  • The applicant should be a full or half orphaned child. (Father, Mother or both losses)

  • The applicant child should have a very good educational level & progress.

  • The child or guardian should write a full detailed request letter to FLCF management that the purpose of requesting a sponsorship, including family details and financial situation, child’s educational situation etc... The letter must be recommended by the “Grama Niladari” (GN) and the Divisional Secretary of the area.

  • The guardian should have to submit all the documents & details very accurately, which are requested by FLCF. (E.g. Request letter, School letter, birth certificate of the child, death certificate of the parents if applicable, NIC copy of the guardian, term test progress reports for last 3 years, certificates for extra activities, copy of bank pass book, etc.)

  • If the child is schooling, they should submit a letter from the school principal & class teacher by confirming schooling, educational level, extra activities, etc...

  • If any SP request comes direct from D.S. or G.N. or school Principal, will give priority.
  • When the documentation work is completed, FLCF team visits the child’s living place to see the real situation and to gather more information to prepare the Bio-Data.
  • When the bio-data is completed, the child will get marks/ points according to the family income & education situation. Then she or he will be entered in the priority list based on the points.
  • When a new child sponsor requests a child, the SP team has to send the bio-data, which is placing the top of the priority list with the highest marks.
  • Then the guardian should sign an agreement with FLCF, to prove that SP money will be only used for child’s education & basic needs.
  • ThenIn addition to be signed a photo policy and also to be accepted FLCF rules & regulations for the Sponsorship program. This agreement will be renewed in every two years with new conditions.
  • The guardian should immediately open a savings account for the child and deposit 25% of monthly SP money every month.
  • Reasons for terminating of SP program

  • If the SP money is being misused or breached the FLCF rules & regulations
  • If the child stops schooling or education
  • If they breached the terms of the SP agreement
  • It will not be renewed the agreement, once the period is over. Duration/ period for the SP program is only two years
  • If the SP team is not satisfied with the child’s educational progress and behavior
  • If the child sponsor terminates this sponsorship on his/her own decision (The child sponsor can take a decision at any time with regard to his or her financial situation.)
