The PEARL Child Guidance Center in Ambalangoda held an event focused on a “Worship Parents” program to respect and honor their parents. This is the first step in raising virtuous, law-abiding, and disciplined individuals. The program began at 9:30 a.m. on 12th July 2024 at the Ambalangoda CGC premises. A total of 40 children participated along with their parents.

Fair by PEARL Ratmalana

The event was held on the 9th of August 2024 under the guidance of the preschool teacher, Ratmalana. The parents prepared the items and helped children sell their items in fair. There were coconuts, fruits and vegetables, and other grocery items. In addition, with the help of parents, children used money to make transactions.

Leadership & Capacity Building

The FLCF counselor and child protection officer in Galle district orchestrated a “leadership and capacity building program” held on August 21st, 2024, at the Siddhartha College in Balapitiya, running from 09:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. The event was attended by 69 children from the SP group and 12 from the non-beneficiary group, and there was no PSP participation. This program was designed as an activity-based program. The resource person took the initiative by discussing the introduction, mental health awareness, goal setting, SMART goals, and an arts therapy activity.

Sport-meet

August 22, 2024

The sports meet was held on 22nd of August in Pearl preschool, Kappalady. This outdoor event was organized by the preschool teacher with the support of parents. The main purpose of the event was to give opportunities to the child to enter the physical activities.

International Youth Day

August 12, 2024

International Youth Day is to bring youth issues to the attention and celebrate the potential of youth as partners in today’s world. This year’s theme of the youth day was youth digital pathways of sustainable development. FLCF organized the youth day on the 12th of August in the project office at Balapitiya for children of the Child Sponsorship program and discussed the challenges of youth, such as mental health issues, youth identification, time management, etc.

Art of making cotton wicks for coconut oil lamps

Pearl CGC, Ambalangoda, organized a livelihood training program on the 29th of August. Social Service Officer: Mrs. Thishari from the Balapitiya office conducted the training session. It was about making coconut wicks. Mothers of Pearl CGC, Ambalangoda, participated in the event.
