About Us

FRIENDS LANKA CHILD FOUNDATION

Our primary goal is to enhance educational opportunities for children. Within Sri Lanka, there exist thousands of children living below the poverty line. Among them, many are either orphaned or have lost one parent, rendering them particularly vulnerable. Beyond economic instability and parental loss, inadequate housing conditions contribute to a reduced educational attainment below their potential.

Our initiatives encompass

Together, these efforts aim to uplift the educational outcomes and overall well-being of children across Sri Lanka.

ABOUT US

Since its establishment around 10 years ago in 2012, the Friends Lanka Child Foundation (FLCF) has been dedicated to serving communities in Sri Lanka. Originally stemming from the mission of Friends Kinderhilfe International e.V. (FKI) in 2004, FLCF has been actively involved in numerous projects aimed at uplifting underprivileged children and families affected by the Tsunami. In 2012, the local team of FKI Sri Lanka made a courageous decision to transition into an independent local NGO, thus founding Friends Lanka Child Foundation (FLCF). This move was driven by the desire to enhance access to education and improve living conditions, fostering a brighter future for disadvantaged children and their families.

Our Vision

To break the vicious circle of poverty by empowering underprivileged children’s lives through education, giving them equal and fair opportunities and a perspective of a brighter future to represent one day a just, free, peaceful and prosperous society.

Our mission

To establish free education centres, preschools, child guidance centres, Vocational training centres, and provide education, scholarship, Leadership, Counselling, skills & intellectual development programmes to empower the children of the disadvantaged regions of the country.

Our Child Protection Policy

The primary focus of the organization is to provide socially deprived children with opportunities for a brighter future through access to free education. FLCF is committed to supporting children from challenging socioeconomic backgrounds, those facing abuse, as well as orphans and abandoned children. This support extends across various settings, including group education within children’s homes and individual educational programs through scholarships. Importantly, FLCF’s assistance is not confined to specific regions within Sri Lanka, ensuring that children in need across the country receive the necessary support for their education and overall well-being.

Within our organization, we uphold a robust Child Protection policy. All staff members are required to adhere strictly to the guidelines outlined in this policy. Discrimination or harassment based on ethnicity, gender, race, caste, color, nationality, or marital status is not tolerated under any circumstances within our organization.
